Axon Group raises the glass to Blasius and Aquarius
Every year, at the beginning of June, our colleagues and their partners come together to celebrate our name day Blasius-Aquarius. It's a good opportunity to introduce our better halves to the people we work with day in and day out. Every year we change the location and this year we wined and dined in Ter Biest in Lauwe. The cosy venue and beautiful garden were a perfect setting for our ‘little’ soirée with no less than 61 attendees! As a nice extra, we were all able to taste kangaroo for the first time. Afterwards we hopped to the bar and drank a glass of amber nectar together.
Never heard of the name day for the Saints Blasius and Aquarius?
You can close your Bible again, because we largely invented this name day ourselves. A few decades ago, we wanted a day to celebrate our job and sector: our own personal name day. So we set out to find a saint who could represent us. Eventually we came across Saint Blasius, the patron saint for people with a throat disorder. The name "Blasius" sounds in Dutch a lot like “blazen”, which means "blowing". So the saint could certainly represent our fans, blowers and blow-off solutions. His name day was originally celebrated at the beginning of February, but we liked it better at the beginning of June so that's how it happened. When we merged with PCA a few years ago, we also earned a saint for those activities. And so we brought the Holy Aquarius to life as we are active with PCA in water treatment. Since then, we have been celebrating our name day Blasius-Aquarius every year in the beginning of June, which provides us with happy memories every single year.
